The
new normal is simply crazy in a different way. During zoom church Azalyn fell
off the couch and got a bloody noise. I asked the boys if they had been
listening at all. Without hesitation Denali said “they said they” my kids are
smart. We had a lesson about letting Satan into our life and hearts. Kind of
backfired the next time Colvin got in trouble. He said,” you are bringing Satan
into your house and heart.” I guess they do listen sometimes.
People cry “give thanksgiving its due time as a holiday.” However, to me, thanksgiving is the “tail gate” party to Christmas. You wear your team colors and bring your team spirt to the “tail gate” you can hang up lights and get into the spirt of Christmas. 12AM Nov 1 start the party.
We pulled out all the downstairs carpet. We put down a LVP (a waterproof flooring) it is so pretty, but it is hard and cold. Looking for a rug. Took longer than we hoped. The kids had fun in a disaster and eating on the floor was excited for them. We had to take out the dish washer. I hate doing dishes by hand. The day the flooring was complete I told Greg, “we are eating pizza until the dishwasher is put back in, you choose on how many days we eat pizza” We only had pizza one night and my dishwasher was put back in. I have a wonderful husband. Now that the flooring is done, time to update the half bathroom. We have always hated the pedestal sink; we were not putting it back in. Looked online, could not find anything we fell in love with. Greg was inspired to go to Lows and look. We were looking at on sale when the guy said it was going to be discounted more soon, like now. Long story short 3 tips to Lows we got a $400 vanity for $150. With the new flooring Azalyn has discovered markers. Never fear acetone is here.
Family news. They found a tumor on Spencer’s lung. It was cancer but they were able to remove the whole thing, as of now he is cancer free. There will be more screening just to make sure. That was a roller coaster of emotions. I held my kids tight and my eyes leaked. Poor McPhaul’s. Jerry passed away. Even though they knew it was coming loss is never easy.
Ever since I went to OR this summer, Greg has wanted to go. Mom and Dad was going clamming with the Hatfield’s, so we tagged along. The clamming was a bust (we only got the clams we bought) but it was so fun. We drove halfway the first night. We got in really late hopping the kids would sleep in but nope up early. The drive the next day was great. (the kids did super for the 24hours we drove, thanks to Wi-Fi I got a 9-hour book listened to) Once we hit the Columba, Greg was fascinated by the landscape. It was a good thing I knew how to get to Carts since our GPS took us up on the hills. The reason the clamming was a bust; was where we stayed the clams were toxic. Everyone but Greg and I drove 8 hours to another beach. They said it was the worst part of the trip. We went to hug point. There were some caves the kids had fun exploring (50 feet). Denali really wanted to get in the water. As we were leaving, I let him take off his shoes. A wave took him out, he thought it was the greatest. A wave almost took Z out with it, but Daddy was there to save her Grandma and I were there to help strip her. Baler HATES the water. He just wanted to dig in the sand. Colvin wanted to find sand dollars. Brought 10lbs of sand home with us. We did a lot of driving. We seen were part of the Goonies was files. (Greg’s idea) we seen a light house (Syringa’s idea). Even though the clams were “Toxic” at our beach we still went out one night. SO, FUN but a bust. I know the coast guard was watching and laughing at us. Betting how long we would be out there. On the way home mom and dad left right from the Ocean. We went to Carts. Mom and Dad got stuck in snow. We got to go on a river walk and collect 10lbs of dirt, I mean leaves. I decided my spirt is the ocean. Out far you think she has it all together, but has you get close BAM she hits you in the face with all her CRAZY! On the way home Denali said I am so glad we got to drive and see all the pretty country. REASON!
I love books, but sometime self-help book just makes me feel like all I am doing is wrong. I found a pat me on the back book. Dr. Laura, In Praise of Stay-at-Home Moms. I was talking to Colvin about me staying home I asked if he would like to see me at breakfast and dinner only. He looked at me and said mom I would not like that at all. REASON!
Colvin got a new belt. I love seeing how hard he works and how proud he is of himself. Denali’s next belt is a big one, so he needs 6 strips, 3 more. Talking about Colvin working hard. He got student of the month for kindergarten, wow what a difference this year is. He got to call me from the principal’s office. Scared me to death and just made his day. Denali loves to help. He tried to do Az's hair. Practice will made perfect.
COVID shut everything down again, including music time. I took Azalyn to the park. She loved it even though it was cold. I think that is the first time I have just taken her to the park. Oh, how life changes. Denali went to the park every day. Colvin most days and Azalyn…
After sand, dirt and driving for 24 hours. The van needed a car wash. I took the boys to help. Colvin almost got hit by a car. Thank you for attentive drivers. I feel like this happen last month too. I hope he is not a cat with only 9 lives.
Denali really wants to be a game designer when he grows up. He made his best and most compressive board game to date. He named it Golden Mountain. It is a co-op game to start then turns into a blood bath.
When you are a parent you can either get things done or make memories. I choose memories. I took the kids on a hike to the P. They want to hike the alphabet. The first 10min was He$$ but ended up being really fun, snow and all. We found a bed halfway up the trail. The kids thought it was funny I had a moment of,” lets use it.” We put up the Christmas tree. That makes everyone happy. We also got Christmas lights put up. I only put them up inside this year. I want to see them and when they are outside you do not get to see them. We are 90% done wrapping. I finally made moms Green Tomato pie. It was really good. Az loves to eat with daddy or snuggle with him. She will eat lunch only on his lap. He loves it.
THANSGIVING: Greg and I were in charge of Turkey. We wanted to deep fry it. MEMORIES: First we had a Turkey go bad. Left it out too long. Then the oil took so much longer to get hot than anticipated. Then it took way longer than expected to cook (our burner did not have a big enough flame) Tana was sweet to wait on us. One huge blessing Azalyn sleep most of the time at Tana’s. One black Friday purchase was HULU it has not been off since.
My Cousin got marred right after thanksgiving. I got to go to the reception with no kids. It was fun to see family. My Aunt Darla and Uncle Scottie stayed with us. The next day we got to have church with everyone, it was wonderful. Timbers kids got to stay the day with us.
There were some tears at the end: We took the kids to Nickle Mana. However, I had to leave early due to picking up a present. I did not listen to Greg and we only took one vehicle. Colvin was super sad because we did not get prizes. I made it up to him by giving him a green kindle case. Denali was so cute he said mom I was good what do I get. I gave him a dollar for reading even though we did not read, money is a huge motivator for that kid.
*I am grateful for list: This is “Different thankful list after the normal family, husband, and kids” Games, books, ability to read, rights in my country, happy news, waiting for happy news, wi-fi when driving, different scenery, husband being my best friend, fun blessing, phone, kindle, helpers my boys have become, fun times with family, being able to stay home, weekend relaxing, church no matter what way, Christmas lights, helping miracles, medication, seeing, movies, the knowledge to fix things, living life, washing mashie, dishwasher, forgiveness, do overs, inspiration or not getting inspiration, understanding husband.
Thought: Don’t stress out just enjoy the moment.
