Vacation: Started in Utah. Since Greg and I are both
night owls driving at night is not a big deal. About 9 we stopped, got the kids
in PJ’s, and made a bed in the back. We got to Utah at about 12, only Azalyn
was truly asleep. We went to La Casita with the family. Gary came and Denali
was talking to him, they look and act so much alike. I know I am his mom and
Greg his dad but wow he is his uncle’s doppelganger.
I was going to take the kids to a Splash Pad (Utah has a
ton of great ones) However the kids concluded that it was too cold to get wet. Perfect
80’s. The main event was Spencer’s farewell. He did a great job, in his talk he
referenced the “No David” book, he liked it to know matter what we do God with always
love us. Azalyn was sad that he did not
read the whole book. Cory taught us a new game; everyone gets a paper, and it
is like building your own treasure map. Denali kicked everyone’s butt.
We went from Utah to 6 Flags Magic Mountain. There was a scare
when we got to our hotel. I had googled Magic Mountain and it said 2 hours away.
Then I googled 6 Flags Magic Mountain, and it was 2 min away. It is all in the
details.
We bought a foldable wagon, and it was a life saver. I
hope that the pictures do most of the talking but here are just a few
highlights: Greg went to 6 Flags once,
20 years ago in high school. He remembers
going on 4 rides all day because of the lines.
I think the longest line we
waited in was 30 min. The little kids’ area was small but NO lines, Azalyn went
on one ride 5 times in a row. We did not make it to the water park. The boys
were not scared of anything. The faster the better for the boys, loops were
just icing on the cake. Azalyn discovered that she loves to spin round and
round. We did let each kid pick a gift; we made them really think about what
they wanted. Colvin: a build a bear dragon. Denali: a shirt of one of his favorite
rides (Greg got a shirt to match) Azalyn a stuffed baby giraffe. Mom: a magnet.
We were there for 3 days and did 16,000 steps or more each day. We had a great time. Memories are the best! We all crashed when it was bed time.
Jex fed and watered the dogs. He also cleaned up dog poop
for us. He did not like the cleaning, but he did like the money.
We kept asking Denali what homework he had because we did
a LOT of driving. There were some very boring drives. From LA to home there was
nothing! Like I told Greg if something happens to the car I was getting out and
letting a semi run over me, faster death. Denali did a little at the hotel, but
during the drive said he had done it all, however when we got home, he remembered
there was more to do. He had to spend a
whole Saturday doing homework. Good lesson
of not procrastinating.
