June

First month of summer, I had a list!
The first thing we did was family pictures. We actually went to a studio; they were very particular about what we wore. We picked pink and gray for our color block.  My kids are getting way too big. Super high-quality prints.
One of the biggest blessings we have had in Arizona are Great friends. Our friends are in the Air Force and got orders to Colorado. We knew that this move was coming, I had even helped clean their house, but it was still not fun. They got to stay with us for a few days and it was death by 1000 cuts watching them pack.
The first half of June Denali had play practice every day. Then there were 2 performances, one afternoon and one night performance. Colvin, Azalyn and I went to both.  Not to be bias but the night play, the one Denali was king Triton, was the BEST! The play he did was Little Mermaid. Knowing the story line helped follow the play. Azalyn loved the songs. During play practice I got a call from the school letting me know that Denali had head lice. NO NO- I only found lice in Colvin’s hair. Blessing that Azalyn was lice free. Colvin was not happy that we had to shave his head. Then the whole family did treatments for a week. I have never done so much laundry. I found a spray, what I could not wash I sprayed. When the School rechecked Denali, they were impressed he was so clean.
Why Denali was at play practice Colvin, and I DEEP cleaned the whole house. We hand mopped and oiled all the wood flooring. The house just feels so nice.
One of the reasons we deep cleaned was Greg did an interview (you can never be too prepared) Greg did say it was the hardest interview he has ever done.
Mom Plug: I love doing Keto, it makes me feel so good, but I have a huge, sweet tooth. One cheat a day. When you are not a nice person one day, say sorry and do better.  I try not to judge but every once in a while, my mortal brain takes over. Just realize you don’t have all the facts and move on. Activity days are getting better. We had 2 activities that were great. The first was a dad and daughter activity, the dads made toilet paper dresses. They were so cute, and the smiles said it all. Then we had a pool day at my house, and it rained. The rain just made it that much more fun. Just FYI: blow up mattress makes a great pool toy. I hosted an unofficial book club. We read The Scarlett Pimpernel. Then we watched the movie at my house, I’m a big girl now.  I was today years old when: I was going to Nair my legs once a day for a month. I had to stop after 7 days; I had chemicals burns on my legs. It was a very painful 24 hours. Did it kill all the hair on my legs, NO! Did it help thin my hair, maybe! Was it worth it, No!
New Motto: make plan, plan for the plan, when plan goes south move on to plan D.
Colvin loves dinosaurs and date nights.  For his reward of cleaning, he wanted to watch Jurassic Park III. We had an afternoon date while Denali was at play practice. We did an outside movie/party for Colvin. The snow cones are always a great hit.
Greg and I took Denali to do baptisms for the dead at the temple. It was Greg’s and Denali’s first time. Greg never got to do baptisms for the dead as a teen. Denali loved it, I actually took Denali back as a date night. Blessing of the temple, after Denali’s temple date night we went to 5 below and found slime lickers. We have been looking for them since Christmas.
We sold Mist. There was a lady at the Vets office that wanted Mist since he was 5 weeks old. All the kids took it hard. Denali said I just keep thinking about what I get. Colvin said mom we cannot have more puppies my heart cannot take it. Azalyn cried all night.
Just life: Our pool cleaning company canceled us; it was a huge blessing. They had only been doing the minimum. When their band-aid did not work anymore they canceled us. It was 2 weeks of tons of work. about an hour a day working on the pool. It is slowly getting back to normal. I really try to take the kids to the lake once a week. We found a new place to cliff jump. The only issue is, it is really high, 25+ feet, but the boys love it. Azalyn can even jump from about 5 feet. We went to the drive-in movies and watched In-Side-Out 2. I figured that anxiety takes over my brain way too much. Greg got his feelings hurt when the kids said that anger was what controlled dad. I felt so bad for him, he does his best but with his back it is getting worse. Going through the stages of grief I am in Pi$$ off. I am so mad knowing how great his back has been doing, and how he hurts now. He tries so hard to be the best dad he can be. Blessing, we had people over for dinner, the husband is a physical therapist (I did not know that). I hope he can help Greg a little. Meds are not working as well. We have been doing the summer reading program from the city. Greg got converted to book on tapes while he drives to and from work, so this year the whole family got 1000 hours. We went to Culvers and for $0.94 we all ate and had ice cream, because of our all the coupons we had earned.  This summer I really want to incorporate the scriptures in real life. One day the kids were just fighting, I said fine we will follow the law of Moses, eye for an eye.  I made them all help me with the rest of cleaning and dinner prep. They decided after an hour they wanted to follow Jesus forgive and be nice. Just the beginning of fun in the sun.
