Camping With Kids

Something very sad: Greg and I promised his niece and nephew that we would take them camping. They had never been before. I wanted to take tons of pictures, so I took both Greg's and mine camera. We went up on Friday night and all night and most of the next morning we used Greg's camera. Saturday morning, when we started to pack, I started to use my camera. Greg's camera I put on the table. We got all packed and Greg's camera was no were to be found. We look around the camp and no camera. I told Greg not to worry we probable just packed it in the food, since all the food from breakfast was on the table. Got home unpacked and no camera. I think I packed it in the tent or sleeping back, so for now you are just going to have to live with stories from Friday and pictures from Saturday.

Wednesday before: Greg's parents were nice enough to let us have their old sleeping bags and air mattress.

Friday: I got home early and packed everything up. There was a picture of all the "stuff" we pack. I was so surprised of just how much "stuff" could fit in my car. I actually had to go from the back seat and stuff thing in. We picked up the kids about 5:30 and were on are way. The kids were so excited. We found the perfect camp group. It was about 1/4 of a mile from water and outhouses. Sidney and I walked town to the bathroom the first time. The walk down was not bad, all down hill. The walk up about killed us.
Then we made a fire and cooked hot dogs and s'mores. We told the kids that they had to eat a hot dog before s'mores. Duke helped both of the out with the hot dogs, but some how they keep the s'mores from him. Go figure:)

This is the perfect camp grounds. I am looking at it from were we parked the care. To the left is the fire pit. To the right is were we put the tent.
This is actually us leaving but this is how they looking coming up.

The kids loved being in the outdoors.
On Saturday we went to a nearby water fall. Greg and his family has been going to this water fall for years. Someone has put a really nice path way.

Bet you can't guess what movie I am acting out? Really think!

Greg going across the river. One good thing about living among Mormons. Lots of Eagle Projects.
You have to cross the river in about three places. Duke was not sure if he like the bridges.

The kids ran in head of Greg and I the whole time. They keep calling back, "come on old farts" here are the old farts together.

The kids climbed up the water fall. It was so pretty up there and the perfect day.

Here is the water fall. Look how pretty.

Duke and I sitting on a rock waiting for the kids. Duke does not really like water and it was too cold for me.

Greg and the water fall.

Duke does not really get the whole, smile for the camera. We tried to get his face but this is the best we got.

More of Greg and the water fall.

Here is Bubby coming down to us. He wanted to go home. We had to drag Sidney away.

On the way home Duke thought that he was the coolest dog ever. He sat like this the whole way down the mountain.

Boys!!

I know that this is not the best picture but I just wanted to show everyone how pretty it is up there.

Stories: We went to a fee camp ground. It was $10 and all we had were $7's in ones or a $20. After talking it over we decided that we were just going to pay with the $20. We had to put the money in an envelope and then into this little cylinder. It was just Sindey and I, the boys stayed to make a fire. I made Sidney really stuff the envelope into the cylinder. As we were backingup to leave and we saw a sign, "camp manager". Our brains turned on and we know that he would have change. We went over to ask if he could get our money and make change. He was this really nice old guy. He had to unlock the cylinder from the bottom. Sidney had to lay on the ground and stick her little arms up the cylinder to get the envelope with the money, so this nice old guy could brake our $20. Greg was so proud of us. We saved $10 bucks.

Greg and I are not use to sleeping with kids. We got no sleep. Bubby snored all night. Sidney keep sleep yelling, scaring Greg and I half to death. Good thing we get to start out with little ones and grow with them.

The kids were crazy all night long. They were sing and "surviving" on rocks. I think that a whole chocolate bar for s'mores was a little much, but over all we all had a great time.
