My Grandpa Jake
Amy died Aug 7 2021
It was the best un-sad funeral, not that we will not miss him, but we ALL know he is in a better place. He has been suffering for the last few years. He lived a long fulfilling life that we got to celebrate.
They had us grandkids sing (all 12 of us), daddy’s hands, then Trujillo wrote a 2nd part about grandpas’ hands. (Words below). Sorry book you cannot listen to the amazing singing (HAHA). They also had all 12 of us the Pallbearers. I have a newfound respect for men that do that, caskets are heavy.
My family did not even wear black. The girls wore Levi skirts (thanks to mom we all have cool ones) white shirts and red jewelry. The boys wore Levi’s and red ties.
At the luncheon they had an open mic for storytelling.
Sierra: Her and McCarty went to the horse pit and pulled some old horse teeth. Grandpa was making fun and asked what they were going to do with them, make earrings. Sierra thought that was a great idea, so she did and wore them all day.
Harley: Grandpa gave Charley a belt that did not fit. He fixed the belt by putting a concho over the "C" and gave it to Harley.
Me: When we told Grandpa that we were going to name Denali, Denali he was the one that told me that Mnt. McKinley was Mnt Denali. He was the one to tell me it met the big or great one. He was the one that told me about Denali national park.
McCarty: One time Grandpa came to a rodeo. He bought her neckless with a cool green leave. When they showed mom, it was a marijuana leave.
The husbands were so wonderful and took the littles to Crystals (Cousins and Aunts open their homes to us), the wives stayed and were with family.
Funerals are time to get people together dad had all but 2 cousins there so family history.
