I Love Christmas there is magic in the air. My kids are getting old enough
to really enjoy it but still young enough to really enjoy it at the same time.
Here are just a few highlights.
Denali and I decided to start a new tradition. A polar jump. I put our blue
tarp on to help it warm up. It did not help. Denali and Azalyn only got their
feet wet. I dove in swam to the stairs and
ran straight to the shower.
We did the $5 gift exchange. Azalyn had a hard time at first because she
knew we were getting presents but did not understand they were for others. She
wanted HER presents. However once I explained she needed to find mom a surprise
and Colvin was getting her a surprise, she was so excited for me to open her
present. Colvin is a speed shopper. He finds the first thing and is done. There
is no 2nd guessing, what he grabbed is perfect. He just wants it
done ASAP. Denali tries to find the perfect gift. At one time I think he had 3
gifts for Colvin, we ended up playing eeni meeny miny moe.. I just tried to
find anything for Greg. Greg is a happy medium,
He wants to look but is not super indecisive. Azalyn had mom, Colvin had Azalyn, Denali had
Colvin Syringa had dad Dad had Denali.
Christmas day: we had about a 15 min church. I had to run home, and the
church was empty by the time I got back. Short sweet and to the point, best Christmas
program.
Here are a few of the top presents. Azalyn got a power wheels car, she was
in and out all day. All the kids loved the wiggle scooter. The kids squish
mellows were a huge hit. They all slept with them. Greg got everyone x-box controllers.
Then Microsoft was having a sale on games. We got a few new games. It took Greg
all day to get the games downloaded but we were able to play before bed. Denali
got a remote control car, he loved it. Colvin got a few Lago sets that he put together.
Azalyn got makeup and a tea set. We all look fabulous and are well
hydrated. The boys each got really nice tablets and slept with them. I
got Greg an old school Nintendo with games. He said he felt like he was 12
again. Greg got me a cordless vacuum for wood floors. I took way too much joy
in vacuuming.
The last few years we have went to the VA home or a church for Christmas
dinner. It was just easier to have sandwiches. The kids were super excited that
we had picked up Jimmy Johns for Christmas. They said YES, it is like we are
with the Proctor family. I really don't think any of the kids ate a sandwich
but it was the thought that counted.
We had a great time playing games, eating food, and just basking in the
magic of the day.
